TRADITION OF THE SOUTH TRAVELS NORTH TO SUPPORT WORKFORCE HOUSING Portsmouth – The Workforce Housing Coalition of the Greater Seacoast, a nonprofit workforce housing education and advocacy group, presents its premier benefit concert fund-raiser event “BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet” at the IOKA Theatre in Exeter NH. The Grammy-winning band from Lafayette, Louisiana, incorporates a seamless blend of flat-out Cajun French folk-rock, zydeco, various jazz styles, Latin and Caribbean music, medieval European material, western swing, and more. Praised as “the best damn dance band you’ll ever hear” by Rolling Stone. Their frequent Public Radio performances on “Prairie Home Companion” have given the band’s name national recognition. Garrison Keillor has named them “The World’s Greatest Cajun Band”. “BeauSoleil is a force of nature and Cajun music is made for participation”, notes producer Todd Moulton. For nearly thirty years, BeauSoleil has packed dance-floors around the globe with potent Cajun music that's deeply traditional and vibrantly futuristic. Now they are coming to the NH Seacoast for a concert to benefit the work of the Workforce Housing Coalition of the Greater Seacoast. BeauSoleil performs Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the IOKA Theatre in downtown Exeter NH at 7pm. Tickets are available for purchase in person for $32 each (general admission) from the IOKA Box Office or from Water Street Bookstore both located in downtown in Exeter NH. You can also purchase tickets by calling (603) 781-8922 or online at www.IOKAEntertainment.com. (Online ticket sales are subject to a $4.50 processing fee.) Event proceeds support the Workforce Housing Coalition’s mission to be a catalyst for the development of a range of housing options for the diverse workforce in the Greater Seacoast Region of New Hampshire and Maine. Since 2001, the Workforce Housing Coalition has worked with businesses, municipalities and community organizations to develop broad-based, long-lasting solutions to the housing crisis, and create a wide-spread understanding that the availability of housing is critical to our region’s economic vitality.
