About the Event

Will More Kids in Town Raise the Local Tax Rate? How can we rebalance New Hampshire’s human ecology? Richard England, Lorraine Stuart Merrill, and Peter Francese will attempt to answer these questions at our 2020 Annual Meeting: Busting Myths & Building Communities.

First, Peter Francese and Lorraine Stuart Merrill, authors of Communities & Consequences II: The Rebalancing of New Hampshire’s Human Ecology, will share what they learned while writing the sequel to the 2008 book Communities & Consequences: The Unbalancing of New Hampshire’s Human Ecology.

Next, Richard England, professor emeritus of economics and natural resources at the University of New Hampshire, will share his research on school enrollment and property taxes. His paper “Will More Kids in Town Raise the Local Tax Rate?” was commissioned by the NH Association of Realtors and is linked on our website.
